My October reads..

I have always said that I would try to read more, to keep my brain sharp and my vocabulary growing. I decided several years ago that I would try to read one book a month (at a minimum). As we all know life happens, so there were plenty of times I didn’t meet my goal, however recently I decided to add magazines to the mix. You can catch some really informative and insightful articles in a good mag.  Here’s what I’ve been reading this October. I am a little bit proud of myself this month because it seem like there’s never enough time to get things done let alone read with a three year old, husband,  church and community obligations and budding career…but this month I managed it…tiny kudos to me and my Kindle app!

Lupita looks stunning on the October edition of Vogue Magazine!

Its been a long time since I’ve opened an issue of Vogue, admittedly, and I was not disappointed. I fell in love with the advertisements and the fashion, the beautiful pictures from around the world and the great articles in the 287 page issue. At first I thought I would be exhausted sifting through all the content however,  I was especially elated to see the non traditional model on the cover, Lupita Nyongo. She is an African beauty that exudes poise, grace and style. In her spread she took Vogue photographers to her native homeland of Kenya, West Africa. The vibrant colors of her traditional ensemble against the beautiful natural African backdrop was simply stunning. Vogue I’d love to see more of this from you, this issue was stellar!

This book is a life changer…

I haven’t finished  reading Cindy’s book in it’s entirety however I am about half way thru and she helps to place several things in context. I first learned of the book through my church’s women’s ministry it was the book of the month and everyone had great things to say about it. I am late to the party however, I do appreciate the opportunity for self reflection and taking a look at things from a different perspective. Have you read this book or any other book by Cindy Trimm?

It’s still early I hope to add more to the list before the month is over…Let me know your thoughts and comments below!
