Springtime Transition Inspiration

Greetings Rubies!

While it is officially spring, living in the DC/ Maryland/Virginia area I am reminded just how fickle the weather is. We had some days where the weather was 70+ degrees in February and March, and now that April is here it feels like we are back in January.

On my recent trip to Rhode Island, I was reminded that it’s still too soon to switch out my wardrobe and quite frankly, I needed my winter coat the first day I was there. I

thought I’d share one or two ways to stay chic and warm while we are in weather limbo.Β  Check out a few examples below.

One of my personal favorite transitional pieces to rock is my faux fur vest. I paired it more dressy here, but I enjoy how versatile it is. You can rock it with jeans or dress it up like I did with a scuba dress and another transitional weather staple…booties.

I’m excited to introduce you Rubies to my beautiful younger sister Mary, we had a chance to catch up during my trip to RI. IΒ  really loved her layered look so I politely told her, in my best big sister voice, that she was going to be on the blog πŸ™‚ We snapped a few photos of her super cute outfit while we were out. She paired a long sleeve t-shirt with her tribal poncho and skinny jeans. She loves to match everything (to a tee) so she wore her navy blue pumps to bring the look together.Β  Check out her layered look below.

Lastly, don’t pack away your sweaters just yet, and don’t switch out your coat too soon. I stopped by ye ole alma mater on my visit home and threw on my new favorite sweater from H&M (similar) along with some khakis and nude pumps from DSW. I enjoy a good sweater since they can be dressed up or down although its’s hard to tell in the photos, there were some gold specks mixed in the blush fabric; and I could also drape it over my shoulder for a more fun look.

  1. Your girls’ outfits are just perfect!! It’s a hard time of year to dress fashionably on the west coast as well. It’s like one day I’m in a big coat, the next I’m in a short sleeve. It feels impossible to be stylish, so I really appreciate your inspiration!

  2. Ooh love that vest and your sisters poncho!! I’m From DC so I know exactly what you mean with the weather. I remember going to school around late April early May and it being chilly in the mornings and then scorching hot in the afternoon lol.

  3. What gorgeous sisters! You definitely both have a great eye for color. I love how these looks are really cohesive and polished without being too “matchy matchy.”
