Hello Again Rubies!
I have another unboxing for you all, my May Sephora Play! beauty box! For all my Rubies new to the blog, Welcome! and let me catch you up, the beauty box is a monthly beauty subscription service from Sephora, where you receive samples of beauty and skincare products curated just for you. This month Sephora Play! celebrates its one year anniversary! So there is a lot of buzz around the box. All boxes usually have deluxe size makeup, skincare and hair products along with a sample fragrance.
The theme for May is “The Rising Stars”, this month they are showcasing up and coming brands who are making a mark in the beauty industry. This by far was one of my favorite bags, one I know I will use over and over plus it’s sleek, slender and can be thrown into any purse or clutch when your on the run.
So let’s get into my favorite part, the products!!
Tata Harper, Resurfacing Mask $58
Tata Harper is a great up and coming brand. It’s great for sensitive skin. The resurfacing masks helps to restore glow to dull or dry skin. The formula is made of very potent botanicals that rejuvenate the skin. If your using it for the first time than you can use it for two or three days than move to once a week. The layers should be thick and wait about 20-30 minutes before washing it off with warm water or a hot face clothe.
Since it removes impurities without stripping the skin of essential nutrients, it’s great for all skin types and free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates and GMOs.
Highlight & Perfect Multipurpose Stick $34
This is my first introduction to this beauty brand. The highlighter has a creamy-gel formula that glides on nicely for all the areas that pick up light. From your cheekbones, brow bones, cupid’s bow and the bridge of your nose.
It’s highly pigmented and I see myself using this as an eye shadow or a highlight for the inner corners of my eyes. I tried using it on my cheeks however the color payoff was not the same. This highlighter is great for all skin types and also moisturizes.
Milk Make-up Blur Stick $36
This a makeup primer that blurs fine lines and wrinkles and minimizes pores. It goes on very sheer although it looks like there is a pigment in the photo. Now ya’ll know I love this because it it has a matte finish. I’ve used it as a primer but it can also be used to retouch and spot check those oily areas after make up has been applied.
The Blur Stick is vegan, cruelty-free, and free of dimethicone, oil, and gluten however, If you have a sensitivity to citrus or coconut oil, I would go ahead and pass on this product.
Omega 9 Hair Mask $58
Hair masks are a great benefit because our hair deserves a mask just like our faces do.
This formula has ungurahua oil and has tiny molecules that penetrate each hair strand to heal and replenish dry hair. It moisturizes and leaves hair stronger and more healthy.
The mask also has Sunflower seed oil which softens and adds shine to hair, gluten-free quinoa protein which strengthens and protects hair; and lavender and eucalyptus that help to clarify and strip hair of product build up. It doesn’t contain parabens, sulfates, or phathalates, which is also a plus.
Reserve Sel Santal $95
This fragrance is one that I would definitely invest in. It’s a fresh clean scent that is not overpowering. It reminds me of a walk in a garden very floral and strong, warm and inviting. A few of the notes are: Mandarin Leaves, Nutmeg Tonic, Iris, , Violet, Hazelnut Cream, Sandalwood, Decadent Amber, Rose Musk.
Grande Cosmetics Grande Lip, Hydrating Lip Plumper $27
You Rubies already know that I have full lips, so i can never tell if these things work. Personally I don’t think my lips need plumping, however I know some rubies do. I can say that the product is very hydrating. There was a tingling sensation but I didn’t see a noticeable difference in my lips. The directions say to apply twice a day for 30 minutes and after 30 days you’ll notice firmer, softer and voluminous lips.
The product line has 13 shades total from nudes to pinks and purples, it’s also cruelty free and gluten free.
So there you have it…those are the rising stars. The up and coming beauty brands to watch out for. Overall, I give this box a 4 out of 5 rubies. I enjoyed learning more up the up and coming beauty brands to watch out for and all the benefits of the products. I’m still contemplating another box to try, leave suggests in the comment section and don’t forget to like us on Instagram and Facebook!
