Hey Hey Rubies!
Just got in from family vacation and getting back into the groove of things. I was happy to dive into my box waiting for me upon my return. I know last month I said May’s Sephora Play Box was my favorite; well that was until I received June’s Sephora Play box in the mail! I believe this might be my favorite lol. There were many terrific products to try some we’re old favorites while others were new introductions.
For those who are not familiar with the Sephora Play! it is a monthly Subscription Box that ships quality deluxe size products to your home. Each box usually contains one Hair Care item, skin care item, fragrance, makeup and cosmetic products. I’ve maintained my Sephora Play subscription because it offers the opportunity to to try and sample various brands.
The theme for the month of June was “Summer Starters” summer samples to help with all of your summer activities. Let’s get into it!
Benefit Cosmetics is a very popular facial primer known to minimize pores and smooth skin for smooth foundation application. I’ve heard of this primer for many years and always wanted to use it but there are so many primer options, I usually stick to my old faithful. I did find it very smoothing, however, this would be my winter primer I believe as it does not mattify to the effect that I appreciate for the summer heat.
Next up is the Hello Fab Coconut Skin Smoothie priming moisturizer. This is the ultra hydrating priming moisturizer. Again, like the Benefit Primer, this one is very hydrating. This is perfect for the Ruby who is prone to get dry skin. Personally, this offers too much hydration for me, I found myself having to dab my face often throughout the day because of the oil that it produced. I have combination skin so this might fair better for me during the drying fall and winter months.
I was more than pleasantly surprised to see this in my box. Kat Von D has a line of liquid lipsticks in 42 creamy shades. What I enjoyed most about the popular brand was that the formula was not drying like some other brands that offer long wear. It really does feel very weightless, as if there is nothing on your lips. It’s infused with vitamin E and sunflower seed. The liquid lipstick is cruelty free and free of parabens.
Rose-gold Hair & Body Oil is full of nutrient-rich oils from all over the world. It can be used on your hair or on your skin. It is silicone free and restores moisture to damaged hair and skin. One of the it’s key ingredients is absinthium oil, it re-hydrates dry skin and hair, rose hip oil which helps to reduce the appearance of scars and redness, and shea oil nourishes dry, dull skin and hair.
Black Opium, which is the Best of Beauty award winner from Allure Magazine is a fun an flirty fragrance from Yves Saint Laurent. It’s a floral feminine fragrance that reminds me of afternoon brunch. The notes are coffee Accord, Orange Blossom, Cedarwood Essence, Patchouli Essense.
Rich Kid Coconut Oil Gel is A coconut oil-infused gel to help achieve the unbothered, I truly “woke up like this” hair look. It’s great fro straight, wavy, and curly hair and it moisturizes while replenishing lost nutrients and adding shine to hair. It’s free of parabens, sulfats and phthalates. It’s also a cruelty-free, gluten free, vegan product.
So those are the summer starters. Overall, I give this box a 5 out of 5 Rubies. I really enjoyed the products and can’t wait to see how some of the facial products fair during the cold months. Leave suggests in the comment section and don’t forget to like us on Instagram and Facebook!
