Hello Again Rubies-
So I’ve been shifting through my camera roll (my DSLR and cell phone) finding photos of previous travel and other activities and I thought why not share them with my Rubies.
Someone once asked me how I would describe my style. I had to give it some thought…I didn’t want to admit that I was a dress girl (I don’t know why) but my closet draws a clear picture. I suppose the words I would best describe my style right now (because it does change) are simple chic elegance.
Hence this orange one-shoulder, Victoria Beckham dress, exhudes simple chic elegance to me. For some reason I always shyed away from the color orange. I dont even know why, to be honest. Isn’t that a trip? Maybe because in the past I associated it with Halloween, and possibly becasue I didn’t find anything that I thought fit into my simple style aesthetic.
However, this Victoria Beckham dress from Target was giving me life and speaking to me so much, I had to try it on. Victoria Beckham is a former member of the 90’s musical group the Spice Girls. She is a pop star turned fashion designer and mogul and she is the wife of popular british soccer star David Beckham.
A dress from her high fashion line has a starting price of $500 dollars or more, a pencil skirt alone is $950. You Rubies know that those prices points are not in my budget at this point in time. Victoria graciously decided to design a one- time (I hope she changes her mind) collection specifically for Target, for a limited time.
This if one of the few pieces that I bought from the collection and I have to admit that the quality is exquisite and the pieces are classic. I can see myself wearing these pieces for years to come (size permitting 🙂 At first on the hanger there isn’t really much to go by and honestly at first I thought the curvy girl items were a bit boxy, but when you get outside of your comfort zone you might find that you are pleasantly surprised like I was with this dress.
I wore the dress to the 142nd Preakness Watch Party event back in May. If you are not familiar with the Preakness, it’s one of the qualifying races to the Kentucky Derby and it takes place at the Baltimore Pimlico Course. This year there were over 140,000 spectators in attendance. I was not one of them lol. This watch event took place in DC, I opted to forgo the large crowd and a big brim hat for big curyl hair and air conditioning!
I also chose to keep my eye makeup and cheeks simple and a coral/ reddish lip to make a bolder statement.
Truthfully, in the begining I was still a little weary about the orange color, but the sweet dressing room attendant at Target encouraged me to take a chance and see the beauty in the color orange, and I am glad that I did. It was an opportunity to get out of my comfort zone with color and put my mindset shift to action.

Do people just drop over dead when you walk down the street, and you end up just tripping over happy corpses in your heels? You can tell me!

Absolutely stunning! Love the look and your hair! I typically shy away from orange anything as well. I actually recently purchased my first orange bag since I have been feeling a little experimental lately.
