Unboxing: July Sephora Play!

Greetings Rubies!

Better late than never. The year is truly flying by isn’t it? Summer is one of my favorite seasons this year we went on a family vacation to Williamsburg, which was soo much fun. But if your budget doesn’t permit you going away you can always have a “Beauty Stay-cation” the theme of the July Sephora Play beauty Box. I know we are in August and I am super late with this post but charge it to my head and not my heart. I am determined to keep it consistent with these unboxing posts even if they are late!! 🙂

There were some really great products in this months box. I know I keep saying it but these boxes are getting better each month. So let’s jump into it.

IT Cosmetics Superhero™ Elastic Stretch Volumizing Mascara ($24)

Say hello to my new favorite mascara!! It’s waterproof and it lengthens. So what’s the rundown? It was developed by plastic surgeons, the “Elastic Stretch Technology, stretches the look of your lashes wider and longer, and wraps each individual lash in a volume-boosting, lengthening, ultra-conditioning coat of support and color for the strongest, thickest, most defined results.” Whew,  that is a mouthful!!! But it’s oh so accurate. I really enjoyed using the mascara and really enjoyed the results. This reminded me of a two step fiber lash application only with one easy step. With it being developed by surgeons and dermatologist, it not only makes your lashes longer and thicker, it also has biotin and protein in the formula so it’s healthy for your lashes.

Oh and by the way, it’s made free of parabens, sulfates, talc and phthalates annnd it’s cruelty free. This gets 4/5 rubies from me.

Fresh Rose Face Mask ($62)

This is an oldie but goodie that I was happy to see in this month’s box. This is the rose infused facial mask I originally reviewed a few months ago along with the Fresh Facial Cleanser. Here’s a brief run down of the stats. It’s great for all skin types and especially helpful for redness, dryness and pores. It’s a great hydrant, and get this, it has an average of two and a half roses per jar. Ya’ll know I loves me some rose scented anything and this does not disappoint! Check out my full review here. 4/5 rubies from this gal.

Madam C.J. Walker Beauty Culture Dream Come True Wonderful Deep Conditioning Masque ($32)

The first thing I noticed was how wonderful this masque smelled. The purple packaging was quite fitting considering the lavender scent along with a hint of vanilla and white flower. The mask deep conditions and re-hydrates damaged and color treated hair. It is an “intensive repairative treatment to repair, rebuild, and hydrate”, I’m sure it’s great for all hair textures, additionally it is great for your scalp as well.

It’s free parabens, sulfates and phthalates.

tarte Rainforest of The Sea™ Color Splash Lipstick ($21)

I really enjoyed this neutral shade of this long lasting lipstick. I have to admit that I did not belive this would last 12 hours….and honestly it didn’t but it did last a very long time. I did eat and drink with it on with very little color transfer which was a plus. It boasts, “The ultra-creamy, vegan formula pairs intense pigments and buttery-smooth conditioners for comfort-swipe color that locks in place”. The texture is creamy and it did leave my lips moisturized, which is a plus for a matte lip color, since matte lip colors can be drying. One of the key ingredients in all of the “sea-inspired” shades is the antioxidant Rainforest of the Sea™ complex that has regenerative properties that helps to smooth the lines on the lips.  Lastly, it’s free of parabens and phthalates and it’s vegan friendly.

CLINIQUE Pep-Start 2-in-1 Exfoliating Cleanser (19.50)

What it is:
In one of my previous boxes I received the Clinque pep-start moisturizer so it was nice to try another product in the collection. I had some nice results with the moisturizer and this did not disappoint either. It’s a simple exfoliating cleanser that is gentle enough to use on a daily basis, you can even use it twice a day. It cleanses your skin while removing dead skin cells and minimizing oiliness. It’s great for normal, oily, combination and dry skin, and shrinks pores. It’s Parabens and Phthalates free.

Guerlain Mon Guerlain ($94.00)

Mon Guerlain is a fragrance inspired by Angelina Jolie. Ingredients for the fragrance were curated from all over the world, carla lavender from Provence, sambac jasmine from India, album sandalwood from Australia, and vanilla tahitensis from Papua New Guinea.

Fragrance Family: Warm & Spicy

Scent Type: Warm & Sweet Gourmands

Key Notes: Jasmine, Lavender, Vanilla

How interesting that the mascara was developed by plastic surgeons, I can not wait to try it! I also prefer the water proof ones, I work in front of a computer AND wear glasses, so sometimes they tear a bit… not fun when the mascara is not water proof!
