Greetings Rubies and Happy May!!
They say “April showers bring May flowers”, the flowers are blooming, the weather is warming up and spring seems to be shedding it’s cold weather sweater completely> These things make me happy along with the fact that Mother’s day is coming up!
It’s a great opportunity to show mama and those special women in our lives how much value and appreciate them. Always remembering that its important to show love not just for this one Sunday but everyday of course. I still remember my very first mother’s day and just feeling a sense of pride and so much joy.
With mother’s day being just next week I am sure there are still a few people who still need pick something up. Here are some quick suggestions that can be found on Amazon.com where shipping is pretty quick, ordering online is easy and hassle free and if your a Prime member shipping is two days or less. There are so many different types of mamas which is beautiful, here are a few quick gift ideas in case you need a little inspiration (including dads looking for gifts for their daughters 🙂

Get her a gift card. I am the gift-card queen, I personally like the idea of gifting a gift card, when in doubt, to her favorite place so she can have fun picking out all the things that she likes (preferable by herself 😂).
A gift card to the spa so she can get a massage or a manicure/ pedicure or a facial. Something that she may not have time to do with such a hectic mommy schedule. Or a gift card to her favorite place to shop or even an Amazon Gift card where she can shop from the comfort of her favorite chair. What’s also great about gift cards is that there is no typically no expiration date, so if she doesn’t find something she like now she can save it for later date.
“Mom…a title just above Queen”
Make her something special. I love all of the projects that my now 5 year old mini has made me through the years including the gift she brings home now, her teachers are so creative and I can tell each little project is made with care and love.
If you need some inspiration, Joann Fabrics and Michael’s have really great kits with everything needed for kiddies to make with help from an adult. For new mommies a footprint kit would be too cute! Or making a candle using her favorite scents would be extremely thoughtful. A simple idea is decorating/ bedazzling a vase with jewels or accessories before placing a bouquet of fresh cut flowers in it.
Give the gift of time. Well its pretty obvious that life is not the same once you become a parent. Time for one, seems to never be enough. While we can’t change how many hours there are in a day; a nice gift for any mom (especially new mommies and moms of small children) would be to let mom sleep in! Even let her have the entire day to herself. If dad knows his way around the kitchen then breakfast in bed would be a plus.
If that’s not an option than ordering in and giving her time to binge watch her favorite show or read a book/ magazine with no interruptions is something that she would appreciate.
For a mom who is not a beauty lover a great lotion and hand cream set like Burt’s Bee and to keep her hands looking fresh and moisturized all year round.
My mama doesn’t wear a lot of make-up but she appreciates a good moisturizer to keep her skin looking smooth and beautiful. Another idea is Organic Essential Oils for aroma therapy, its especially calming and relaxing when misted in a diffuser.
For the busy mom who seems to be always on the run I am sure she’d appreciate a Beauty gift set include some soft slippers, a comfy robe and a silk pillow case with instructions to use them often! Skincare products are a great idea too perhaps a relaxing face mask or a pretty Lavender spa set.
Typically I shy away from getting any kitchen appliances on mother’s day (birthdays or anniversary for that matter LOL), however I recently rekindled the relationship between me and my crock-pot, it was on the shelf for a while being using very sparingly and once I remembered all the clever ways to use it to prepare meals; it has become my best friend! Especially for the nights when I have to work late, help my little Ruby get her homework done and ready for school and then complete some of my own tasks. “Set it and forget it” has easily become my new motto! A busy mom would truly appreciate this and you can add a crock-pot cook book for added icing on the cake 🙂
For a Tech savvy mom consider a one- year subscription to Amazon Kindle or a lighted vanity mirror, or foot massager. A Portable cell-phone charger will fit easily in her purse its easy to use plus it’s great for travel as well.
And finally all moms will appreciate this especially a simple and easy going mom or empty-nester gifting her with your quality time and doing something that she loves is a gift she’ll never forget. Truly carving out some time with a structured activity would have any mom smiling from ear to ear. Maybe a surprise visit home from college if your a student or if you live out of town. If you can’t make it in person sending a card with a handwritten note would be something special.
“Always my mother, forever my friend…”
If you haven’t guessed already the theme has been calm and relaxation. The hustle and bustle of the week can be overwhelming but you’d be surprised how simple it can be to recharge with just a moment of peace and relaxation, whatever that may look likes. Happy Mother’s day in advance! However you celebrate this special day be sure to show your love to the special mom or mom figure in your life.
