I hope your May has been going well so far! I’m two months into my BoxyCharm Subscription and it’s very rare that a box will get 5 out of 5 Rubies from me, but I am really digging all the items I received this month. I was pleasantly surprise to received my BoxyCharm Subscription box early this month. The theme for May is “Make Waves” and Ruby this has all the makings of looking you best while having fun in the sun this spring/summer season. I am really loving all the items I received in my box. There was a product for just about every area of my face. I literally did a complete look (save for foundation) eyes, lips, cheeks look everything straight out of the box!
(Check out the pics below). Check out a brief description of the items I received and then watch the view to see how I use the products I received.
They say “April showers bring May flowers”, the flowers are blooming, the weather is warming up and spring seems to be shedding it’s cold weather sweater completely> These things make me happy along with the fact that Mother’s day is coming up!
It’s a great opportunity to show mama and those special women in our lives how much value and appreciate them. Always remembering that its important to show love not just for this one Sunday but everyday of course. I still remember my very first mother’s day and just feeling a sense of pride and so much joy.
With mother’s day being just next week I am sure there are still a few people who still need pick something up. Here are some quick suggestions that can be found on Amazon.com where shipping is pretty quick, ordering online is easy and hassle free and if your a Prime member shipping is two days or less. There are so many different types of mamas which is beautiful, here are a few quick gift ideas in case you need a little inspiration (including dads looking for gifts for their daughters 🙂
A few weeks ago I was researching drug store beauty brands to revisit in the coming weeks and I was a huge Wet and Wild fan way back in my college days, like most college students I was broke making poor financial decisions. This one not so much because their make-up is very reasonably priced and as a student they were the only brand I could afford LOL. Their gloss and other lip products were my #1 favorite beauty item, and honestly back then, I couldn’t really use their foundation or face products because in my opinion it didn’t cater to women of color well. It has been many years and I must say after visiting their website, I was quite impressed! Which is why I was so eager to try the Rebel Rose Limited edition collection (the entire box retails for $24.99).
If you’ve been following the blog from the beginning you know that I am a former Sephora Play beauty box subscriber. I decided to end my subscription because at times the products were getting repetitive and didn’t always match what I was looking for. For a moment I was a little jaded but now I am back on the saddle and ready to try another beauty box. Currently the only other box I am subscribed to the Ivy Box, the subscription box of my sorority Alpha Kappa Alpha. I debated which beauty box I wanted to try, since there are so many subscription boxes to chose from, and as you guessed from the title of this post, drum roll please… I went ahead and decided to try BoxyCharm!
Hello Ruby Beauties!!
Spring is here the weather is heating up a bit more and it’s about time for another review. I received my complementary Huda Beauty Matte and Melted Shadows from Influensterto review and share my honest opinion, which of course you know me I will.
I hope you had a great Christmas! Mine was a wonderful day spent with family. This year my husband and I decided to keep gifting to a minimum and focus more on being in the moment and spending time with our daughter.
A few weeks ago while I was perusing my email inbox ducking and dodging coupons for sales from some of my fav shopping places LOL (which were quite enticing) I came across one from MAC and had to open it. When I read about the Aaliyah collection at MAC Cosmetics, I knew I wanted to get my hands on some! I finally did and I wanted to share my review and try-on with you all especially since the collection is on sale now.
If your not familiar with who Aaliyah is, she was an International R&B Songstress who was taken from this world too soon after her plane crashed while she was traveling back to the states after a video shoot abroad. She was an actress and model with talent that transcended internationally and across cultures. She had several musical hits, some of my favorite songs are, “One in a Million”, “Four Page Letter”, “Are You That Somebody” and “You are Love.
She is very much missed. My heart was elated to hear that her family collaborated with MAC Cosmetics to share this collection that was inspired by her music and fashion.
I have another product review for you all and this time I even have a video to go along with it. Today we are talking about the Vivo Per Lei LaboratoriesMagnetic Deep Hydration Mask. Just in time for the long Labor day weekend, this is also my anniversary weekend so an afternoon of pampering was exactly what I needed.
I recently joined the fellas of DivergentThought on their internet radio show to share my thoughts on workplace attire and personal image. Mr. Barrington Little, who is like my brother and good friend from college; along with Dr. Charles Thomas and Daryl Peace host DivergentThought every Wednesday from 8-9pm EST to discuss various issues and offer different points of views. Catch the replay of all the fun commentary here.
Today is kind of reflective day. Google reminded us that it was October 17 and in 1989, Selena Quintanilla-Pérez released her first album, self titled, Selena. If you are a Selena fan like me then you know, she lives forever in our hearts. If you are not familiar with Selena, she was a Mexican- American pop artist and superstar who was very popular in the 90’s. She had hit songs, such as, Bidi Bidi Bom Bom, Dreaming of You, and I could fall in love, to name a few.
Can you believe it, it’s fall already. I seems like just yesterday everything was warming up for spring and summer. Those are my two favorite seasons. My husband loves fall and is always trying to get me to do more outdoor activities in the fall. Well I didn’t mind being outdoors to support a good friend who invited me to La Grange Winery.
